Claire Pointing

Director

Claire is an organisational coach and consultant who draws on over twenty five years’ of experience working in senior leadership roles as a lawyer, strategy consultant, a telecoms and media regulator and a senior NED. In the last 10 years she has focused her activities in the organisational development arena as a coach and consultant with a primary focus on professional service firms and the financial services sector.

Claire’s consulting business focuses on working with organisations and individuals to identify and resolve issues relating to complex or dysfunctional organisational dynamics. In working with clients, she draws on her extensive business experience – including roles at a number of leading City Law Firms, LEK Consulting, as a Principal at OFCOM and a programme director for a number of UK Government change programmes. Claire combines her front line business experience with her understanding of the psychology of businesses to deliver focused and lasting solutions for her clients.

Claire has qualifications from a variety of institutions including a Masters in Coaching and Consulting for Change (with distinction) from INSEAD and a Masters in Law (BCL) from Oxford University. In addition she has completed the Corporate Finance programme at London Business School, she held a graduate research fellowship to New York University School of Law from Oxford University, is a qualified solicitor and (in a former life) held a commercial shipping helming licence from the UK department of Transport. Claire participates in the organisational psychology professional doctorate programme at the Tavistock.

Claire’s approach is values’ based, drawing on her psychodynamic training. At the heart of her approach is the use of honest, and sometimes challenging, conversations to surface the drivers of behaviours that are holding individuals and organisation back. Her particular focus is working to facilitate transition of individuals into senior leadership roles and organisations that are navigating periods of cultural change.

Her research interest is focused on understanding how industry wide patterns of behaviour can create hidden barriers to change in organisations. She uses the insights from her research to help individuals and organisations understand and address seemingly irrational behaviours.
